Our Mission

The mission of the Directorate of University Advancement is to "facilitate the sustainable attainment of the primary goals of teaching, research and community service through building greater relationships with alumni and friends of Ahmadu Bello University, and establishing mutually beneficial relationships with donors and partner organizations."

BE A PARTNER

Our Vision

"Ahmadu Bello University shall be a world-class university comparable to any other, engaged in imparting contemporary knowledge, using high quality facilities and multi-disciplinary approaches, to men and women of all races, as well as generating new ideas and intellectual practices relevant to the needs of its immediate community, Nigeria and the world at large."

BE A PARTNER

Coordinating fundraising Needs

A coordinated approach across the university is vital for success. Faculties and or Departments should not be conducting their own fundraising without the documentation and guidance of the Directorate of University Advancement. One thing that needs to be avoided is having different units of the university out soliciting gifts from the same sources. The Directorate works closely with Faculties and Departments and help build on existing contacts, experience and relationships.

The Vice-Chancellor plays a critical role in fundraising activities of the Directorate. The Vice Chancellor is involved in negotiations with major donors and provides backing to the Directorate's funding drives. The Vice Chancellor is also involved in solicitation calls, speaking to various groups and organizations, and supporting the efforts of the advancement staff.

Faculty members are the best allies with requisite information on potential major donors through their alumni. Faculties and Departments are therefore the repositories of success stories that are necessarily part of the case for support.

The Director of University Advancement reports directly to the Vice-Chancellor after decisions have been overseen by the Directorate of University Advancement Board of Directors and the Vice Chancellor in turn informs the Council from time to time about the activities of the Directorate in order to ensure Council's involvement. The University council is committed to the works of the Directorate of University Advancement.
