{UPDATE] HUAWEI COMMISSIONS ICT EQUIPMENT IN ABU ZARIA

Huawei a global leader in ICT has commissioned donated ICT equipment to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. The donated equipment include 3 Huawei AR6280 Router, 5 Huawei S5720 Switches, Cables and other accessories.

Commissioning the equipment, the Director of Enterprise Delivery and Service, Huawei Nig. Ltd., Ms Melissa Chen Yanfeng credited the Huawei Authorized Information Network Academy (HAINA) Partnership and Other Corporate Social Responsibility by the Company.

In his remark the Vice Chancellor, Professor Kabiru Bala expressed the University’s appreciation to the kind gesture expressed by Huawei and commended staff and students that have made the University proud, especially in the just concluded HAINA Competition.

The donated equipment will enhance staff and students training as well as bridge the digital gap in advanced routing, switching and security.

{UPDATE} 3+2 JOINT DOUBLE DEGREE PROGRAMME

The third batch of 3+2 students of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria who have just enrolled into the 3+2 Joint double degree program, and are expected to complete their studies at the Central South University (CSU) Changsa China under the double degree collaborative programme had embarked on a one day excursion visit to Rigasa Train Station in Kaduna State Nigeria.The excursion is aimed at providing on-site and first hand practical opportunity to facilitate the comprehension of the students on theoretical concepts that are being taught online. Recall that since the enrollment of the students in July, the students wére unable to travel to China due to COVID-19 travel restrictions and since being attending lectures online.

FACULTY OF VETERINARY MEDICINE, AHMADU BELLO UNIVERSITY, (ABU) ZARIA TO BENEFIT FROM THE FLEMING FUND COUNTRY GRANT

The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in Collaboration with the Fleming Fund Grant have selected the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, of the University to benefit from the grant. The grant will go a long way in upgrading and increasing the capacity of laboratory especially the Microbiology Laboratory in the Department of Veterinary Microbiology. All necessary arrangements have been made and the renovation to begin in earnest.

REDISSE ALLOCATED AMBULANCE VEHICLE TO VETERINARY TEACHING HOSPITAL (ABU) ZARIA.

The Regional Disease Surveillance System Enhancement, (REDISSE) has allocated an Ambulance vehicle to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital of the University. The Regional Disease Surveillance Systems Enhancement (REDISSE) project is a World Bank initiated project that aims to strengthen national and regional cross-sectoral capacity for collaborative disease surveillance and epidemic preparedness and response in West Africa. The vehicle is expected to be used for ambulatory services, disease surveillance/outbreak investigation and response to public health emergencies.

DONATION OF DISEASE CONTAINMENT MATERIALS TO THE VETERINARY TEACHING HOSPITAL

The REDISSE Project, Animal Health Component has donated disease containment Material to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. The items donated include Motorized Sprayers, Disinfectant, Pairs of Rain boots, Laboratory coats, Swab stick, Bio-hazard bags and PPEs. The donation will go a long way in improving productivity and efficiency for effective service delivery.

ROYAL ACADEMY OF ENGINEERING, LONDON GRANT £19,900 TO STAFF OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING AHMADU BELLO UNIVERSITY

The Royal Academy of Engineering, London has granted Engr. Dr. Kaissan Muhammad Usman of the Faculty of Engineering, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria £19,900 research grant under the Academy’s Higher Education Partnership in Sub Saharan Africa.

The research grant which has a lifespan of six (6) months is expected to conduct a research on “Academia-Industry Alliance for Effluent Management with Bio-Coagulants in Nigerian Oil and Gas Industries”.

The research partnership ensures that the higher system in sub-Saharan Africa produces engineers with the skills and knowledge required to meet the needs of industry, tackles local challenges, address the engineering skills shortage in sub-Saharan Africa, and to showcase engineering’s role in driving economic development in the region.

FACULTY OF VETERINARY MEDICINE RECEIVED DONATION OF
WATER DISPENSER

A1987 Alumnus of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria has donated a one unit of water dispenser to his faculty.

According to the Donor Dr. Musa Abdulazeez, the donation is his stamp of contributions to the University’s growth and development.
