The current administration in Ahmadu Bello University is making frantic effort to work out a comprehensive development plan for use in the University for the next 50 years, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabir Bala, said in Zaria today.
Prof. Bala, who spoke when staff members of the Department of Building paid him a courtesy visit to felicitate with him over his appointment as Vice-Chancellor of the premier institution, said the 50-year plan for the University by its founding fathers ended with the golden jubilee celebration in 2012.
The Vice-Chancellor also said the University administration was working round-the-clock to evolve a workable strategic plan for the institution, build additional students hostels, encourage academic staff to access research grants, launch an endowment fund for the University as well as develop more sources of revenue to finance capital projects.
The Vice-Chancellor, who expressed gratitude to his colleagues for the visit, enlisted the support of the University community and other key stakeholders for the success of the administration, explained that they came at a very difficult time arising from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Earlier in his remarks, the Head, Department of Building, Dr. Dahiru Dauda, said they came to rejoice with him over his appointment and assumption of duty as Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University.
Dr. Dauda, who reminded the Vice-Chancellor that the University community and all other stakeholders expected more from him, expressed hope that he would succeed in his determined effort to take the University to the next level.
The staff members of the department, who prayed for the success of his administration, expressed satisfaction with the positive changes the University had begun to witness soon upon his assumption of office.
